The Voices
Project

An oral history project launched in April 2026, in honor of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Child Abuse Prevention Month

The Voices Project is a powerful new awareness initiative dedicated to centering survivors by amplifying their voices. Through anonymous, autobiographical audio recordings, survivors are invited to share their stories and messages in their own words and in their own voices.

JOIN THE PROJECT:

Submit Your Recording from Anywhere

If you are not participating in the Walk, you can submit your anonymous audio recording from anywhere in the world by emailing it directly to: [email protected]

Why Voices Matter:

The Voices Project is an oral history initiative designed to:

  • Raise awareness about the realities of sexual violence
  • Empower survivors and validate lived experiences
  • Educate the public that anyone can be impacted
  • Reinforce a simple truth: it’s okay to tell, and healing is possible

The Voices Project exists to remind the world that grooming and abuse do not discriminate — anyone can be a victim, and anyone can be a perpetrator, regardless of age, race, religion, socioeconomic status, or background..

How Your Voice Will Be Used:

The Voices Project is an oral history initiative designed to:

With care and respect, recordings may be used to support Lauren’s Kids’ awareness and education efforts, including:

  • Preservation on LaurensKids.org as part of our Survivor Stories portal
  • Media and educational outreach
  • Integration into a powerful end-of-walk art installation focused on survivorship and healing
  • Other Lauren’s Kids educational initiatives

How it Works:

Step 1: Record Your Story

Record an anonymous audio message (up to 5 minutes) on your own device from anywhere.

Step 2: Share What Feels Right

There is no right or wrong way to tell your story. You may speak about grooming, abuse, disclosure, healing, survivorship at any age, or share a message to your past self, your community, or fellow survivors.

Not sure where to begin? You might start with: “I am __ years old, and I was __ when my abuse occurred.”

To protect anonymity, participants may use descriptive details (ages, general locations, relationships), but should not include names of people or businesses.

Step 3: Submit Your Recording

Email your audio file to [email protected].

*Upon sending your email submission, you will receive instructions to respond granting Lauren’s Kids permission to use your story. Please be sure to complete this step.

For questions, please contact Lauren’s Kids.
